– Construction guide Table Game
"Games provide a happy vehicle for studying methods of simulating certain aspects of intellectual behavior; happy because they are fun, and happy because they reduce the problem to one of manageable proportions." Nicholas NEGROPONTE, 1973 The project command for an architectural includes continuous communication with the client. But, when the client is a large family, firstly it is necessary that all members find an agreement, a set of parameters that work for everyone in the family community. The house project in Madrid comprises two independent houses, a courtyard, a garage and a common ground floor. But no one in the family agrees with the solution for final distribution of the house! The objective of the game is to help a young architect like me in designing plans for a home that will satisfy the personal desires of each family member. The architect listens to the different ideas; he classifies the information and tries to give a satisfactory answer. The members of my family are numerous and capricious. My Aunts Paloma and Loli, my uncle Jose, my brother Sergio and my cousin Lorena have a personal idea for the house. The solution was to create software mastering the much contradictory information given by my family. And so it's about turning ideas into simple architectural parameters from a set of rules of the game. Thanks to the game we learn the real complex family demands in their simplified formulation by the rules of the game. "Games are models by which learning takes place." .
